I just wanted to speak my heart out out on a what my opinion is on the soon to come referendum.
I urge my Sudanese brothers and sisters to vote wisely on January 9th 2011. Don't let your vote project the opinion of others. Let it be a representation of your true stance. It is almost inevitable that the south will gain its sovereignty as an outcome of the referendum. Then what? The North will still be our neighbors! Are we going to flash a false sense of racial accord in order to maintain good political relations?
My brothers and sisters, Borders are imaginary lines that were created by out colonists. We must find a basis of solidarity in order to achieve true racial harmony. I recognize that it is easy said than done. The truth is we will always have our differences because of historical context. Even then, we must not use this as justification for the hatred, violence and prejudice we project amongst ourselves. Rather, we should use this as a foundation of accomplishing true socio-political harmony because it is absurd to ignore/bypass our differences in the name of unity.
I have no bias whatsoever, this is one of my many opinions. I am open to engage into a friendly discussion with anyone.
