Given he is a Holocaust survivor, I give Rep. Lantos his due and understand his viewpoint to use troops, jets and missiles to force a change on the ground after years of diplomacy have failed.
However, given that he is in the opposition and apparently is getting older in the bad sense (his disconnect over cutting all aid to Lebanon because of Hezbollah after Israel's collective punishment fiasco was astonishing), he is not in any position to influence events or spur developments.
