The Sudanese government has denied the reports, which come days after President Omar al-Bashir vowed to adhere to a UN peace plan. That's funny, the rebels are civilians.
A rebel commander, Abdallah Banda, from the rebel Justice and Equality Movement, said three villages had been destroyed by Sudanese aircraft in north Darfur.
He did not say how many people had died.
The Sudanese army denied the allegation.
"We never bombard civilians anywhere," a military spokesman told the Associated Press news agency.

Many caring individuals are horrified about the ongoing genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan but feel powerless to effect any real change. However, there is something very important and powerful that each of us can do – protest to Fidelity and other institutions investing in companies that help to fund the genocide in Darfur. Go to FidelityOutofSudan.com for details and to sign the petition.
The government of Sudan continues to pursue genocide in Darfur, frustrating several long years of diplomatic efforts to bring peace and protection to civilians there. Sudan's oil revenue is providing arms and funding for the genocide, rather than economic development for the poor people of Sudan.
Despite the atrocities in Darfur, Fidelity, through its mutual funds, is one of the largest investors in two of the worst offenders in Sudan's oil industry. Fidelity' is not only continuing to invest, but increasing its investments in Chinese oil companies operating in Sudan, without regard to the consequences. Since Fidelity's investments in oil companies operating in Sudan are so large, we can make a real difference for the people of Darfur by pressuring Fidelity to divest. Divestment pressure on China and the Government of Sudan is a way millions of Americans can have a positive impact.
Each of us can control how our money is invested and how our advisors invest our money. In recognition of the hundreds of thousands killed in Darfur, and in hopes that the genocide can come to an end, join the campaign to be one of 400,000 voices for 400,000 lives. Object to Fidelity and other institutions investing in companies that help to fund the genocide in Darfur.
Go to FidelityOutofSudan.com for details and to sign the petition.
Please also consider taking some or all of the following actions:
Call Fidelity and let them know that you don't want them to continue investing in companies which are helping fund the genocide in Darfur
Object to your personal money being used in this way and move your money to investments that do not support genocide
Ask your employer to ensure that your 401k is not being invested in these companies.
Join the dozens of colleges, universities, states, and cities, and many public figures and individuals who have divested from PetroChina (PTR), China Petroleum (Sinopec, SNP) and other companies operating in the Sudanese oil industry and helping the government of Sudan fund the genocide.
Please share this email with your friends and fellow activists. This is an important initiative that will succeed only if we can mobilize all those concerned about the crisis in Darfur.
